$BFT (FoleyTrasimene II), SPAC to become Paysafe

I think that this one has been under-reported somewhat but since I work in the online gaming industry, it showed up on my radar.
This SPAC has reached a deal to bring back Paysafe to the market, at a valuation of 9 billions.
What is Paysafe?
Paysafe Group has been consolidating the market for e-wallets and alternative payment methods for years and went back into private hands 3 years ago.
They regroup all the main e-wallets used for online gambling and Forex: Skrill and Neteller and also prepaid cards (to be bought in 7/11 and the like) under the Paysafe brand.
Why e-wallets matter in the online gambling market?
E-wallets and prepaid cards represent about 25% of the volume of payments in online gambling in UK, Europe, Canada and Skrill/NetellePaysafe are by far the biggest names in this field.
https://www.fisglobal.com/-/media/fisglobal/WorldPay/Docs/Miscellaneous/Gaming%20Payments%20Report%202019
Neteller and Moneybookers (as Skrill was known then) were dominating the US alternative payment methods gambling market in the US before they got pushed out in 2007. They still have high name recognition amongst the gambling crowd and web searches in the US for these brands remain high, even if they can’t process much transactions there for gambling since many states don’t have online gambling legislations yet, or very limiting ones.
E-Wallets are often the preferred payment method for gamblers since it allows to move money from one operator site to the other quickly and cheaply. They can also use it as a bankroll segregated from their main bank account/CC and on top of that, Paysafe offers loyalty benefits to users based on their transaction volumes. As such, their user retention is very good.
The prepaid card business is also a major factor for this stock attractiveness. Prepaid cards to be bought in gas stations or the like are often preferred by gamblers who want to strictly control their gambling or those who don’t have access to a CC (maybe because they gambled too much) or those that prefer cash transactions out of privacy concerns…
Why not invest in the gambling operators instead?
Operators such as Draftkings or legacy casino groups are going to make money but the regulatory environment is harsh and gambling taxes are crazy in some states and might keep going higher.
Moreover, the regulations being so fragmented, many smaller operators push in certain states and not others and the competitive environment is broad. Remember that gambling is a fungible good. There is no difference in the casino games that the operators can offer (same game studios, same rules) and aside from bonuses and the margins on sports bets, the only differentiation is in branding, which is a thin moat on a product that often leaves the users disgruntled (losers).
Payments on the other hand are not taxed for their relationship to gambling and there are far fewer players.
How does Paysafe make money?
The margins on their products are pretty high and Paysafe charges both sides of the transaction in the case of the e-wallets and the merchant side in the case of the prepaid cards.
For the use of Skrill and Neteller wallets, Paysafe charges on average 4.5% on the merchant side for deposits and a whooping 9.9% on deposits with prepaid cards… Larger merchants certainly can negotiate these rates down but this is still a healthy fee, much higher than credit card processors.
In markets where Paysafe has established domination they charge a small deposit fee to the user and a withdrawal fee.
For now, they charge no fees to the US users in a bid to grow market share surely but that will probably end some day.
Growth opportunity:
For now, the US online gambling market is still very limited. Most states have not legalized, the majority of those who have legalized only did so for sports betting and then a handful have legalized online casino gaming (where the real money is made). The opening up of the market is bound to grow as states need money and more of the world moves online.
https://www.playusa.com/us/
It is estimated that the online gaming market could reach 25 billions a year in the US in a few years time and 150 billions worldwide.
https://www.gminsights.com/industry-analysis/online-gambling-market#:~:text=The%20North%20America%20online%20gambling,CAGR%20during%20the%20forecast%20period.
https://www.grandviewresearch.com/press-release/global-online-gambling-market
These revenues do not equal to deposited amounts, they equal net deposits (deposits minus withdrawals). The hold % of online casinos can be anywhere between 50% and 80% depending on how degenerate the market is in a given country but we can conservatively assume 60%.
This means that deposits volume in the US alone would reach about 40 billions, Europe about 50 Billions and worldwide 250 billions.
That should give Paysafe around 8-10 billions in transaction volume per year in the US alone , another 10-12 billions in Europe and conservatively, another 20 billions worldwide.
Valuation estimates:
Rough estimates are therefore revenues of about 1.5 billions per year for Paysafe group in a few years for gambling alone.
Paysafe claims 1.5 billions in revenues total projected for 2021, with only a third from gambling.
Even assuming no growth from the other verticals, this means that the total revenues of Paysafe should grow by 66% with gambling alone in the next 5 years or so.
Pysafe is investing a lot into expansion in other areas than gambling, notably video-gaming and remittance so assuming they don’t fuck it up completely, we are likely to see a 3 billions dollar in revenues in the next 5 years.
Using Paypal’s marketcap vs revenues, that would mean 50 billions in marketcap for Paysafe… Of course, Paypal is ingrained deeply in the whole of ecommerce and Paysafe is more specialized in gambling which might be shakier and herefore command a lower valuation.
The deal details are not fully known but it looks like a current valuation of 9 billions for Paysafe Group upon listing.
Based on my estimates, the marketcap could reach 50 billions in a few years time, one US market for gambling fully opens.
$BFT is trading at a 25% premium right now, therefore the estimate is 4x on investment over a few years.
Obviously you retards are not the most patient bunch but I believe the stock will jump when it morphs and so keep an eye out for the options.

Golden Rules for investing money!

Question: What are the golden rules for investing money in different avenues?
Answer:
Of course, there are infinite articles on the web offering investment advice. So why read mine? Because I share my personal experience with you I am not an Old age person with great Experience but have learned a lot in some recent years and experiences teaches more than theories you will agree with me on this.
Before we get to the lessons, a few more disclaimers: this is investment advice, not trading advice. I’m sharing are more about gradual wealth development than get-rich-quick ideas. Second, although diversification is one topic I’ll cover, my thoughts are primarily about investing in stocks, and other assets like real estate, crypto, forex, or gold. So now, without further ado, my five Ds of sound investing.
01| Do it now
Commonly phrased as ‘Time in the market beats timing the market,’ this is probably the most important takeaway of my whole post. Why? To start, inflation eats up around 6% (sometimes more) of your money each year. That means if you’re not at least getting 6%+ growth in your savings, you’re actually left with less effective money each year.
Perhaps more obvious: the sooner you start investing, the more growth you’ll have. The internet is littered with articles contrasting the savings one accumulates when starting at age 25 versus 35 (or, heaven forbid, 45). Of course, simply blindly buying into random stocks isn’t the right approach either — which is why there are more words below.
02 | Diversify
Would you put all your precious, fragile eggs in one basket? Well, maybe, if you only had one basket. But with metaphorical eggs (dollars), you have the freedom to put them in as many baskets (investments) as you want. If you’re in the 20–40 age range (as I imagine most readers of this are), stocks ought to be your main holding. That’s because while the stock market can be hugely volatile, it produces positive returns in the long term — historically, about 75% of years see gains, and the worst annual return of any 20-year stretch since 1979 was still 6.4%. You can even afford to invest more aggressively in high risk/high reward stocks — for example, tech companies and IPOs (initial public offerings, which are opportunities to ‘get in on the ground floor’ of a company in its early days on the stock market). For example, one share of Google purchased on the day of its IPO in 2004 (for about $100) would be worth around $3000 today.
The traditional complement to stock investments is bond investments, which *tend* to perform inversely to stocks (in other words, when stocks move up, bond prices move down). When you invest in bonds, you’re essentially lending money to companies or governments, with the expectation they pay you back (with interest) over time. The riskier the bond, the higher the yield, or interest you’ll be paid. Bonds are different from stocks in that they are fixed-income investments, meaning you’re not hoping for growth in share price, just steady interest income that exceeds what you’d make by simply getting interested from a bank. I personally don’t invest directly in bonds, but I do recommend putting a portion of your portfolio into either ETFs (exchange-traded funds) or mutual funds, both of which invest in a broader basket of assets (including bonds) and therefore reduce your exposure to any one thing.
📷
ETFs have no fees, but target only a specific set of equities that all have something in common (e.g. the same index, industry, bond type, etc.) Mutual funds, on the other hand, are managed by companies like Vanguard and Fidelity, and allow you to invest in a balanced portfolio of stocks, bonds, etc. hand-picked by a fund manager. You can even buy mutual funds that target a specific year of retirement. One note: because mutual funds are actively managed, they require fees to pay the salary of the people making the investment decisions. Not all funds have the same fee, so pay attention and compare to avoid paying high fees.
Of course, diversification doesn’t end at stocks and bonds. While I recommend most millennials and Gen-Zers focus on stocks, it’s good to allocate a slice of your investment pie to other assets.
03| Dividends
Appreciation in a stock’s price is not the only way to grow your money. Many companies — particularly more established ones whose revenue growth trajectory (and corresponding share price growth potential) isn’t as enticing to investors — offer regular cash payouts to make themselves more attractive investments and offset the lack of appreciation potential. While the current coronavirus crisis has caused many struggling companies to reduce or cut dividends entirely, I strongly recommend making dividend stocks a part of your portfolio. This helps ensure continued income, even when the stock itself is down. Popular dividend stocks include TCS, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Disney, and Home Depot.
You can also access dividend payouts indirectly through mutual funds. Say you own 10 shares of mutual fund ZXXXX, and that fund owns 100 shares of TCS. When TCS pays its quarterly dividend, you’ll receive a portion of the dividend paid to the company that manages ZXXXX, relative to your slice of ownership in TCS. The mutual fund will aggregate all the dividend payouts for all the stocks it owns, and deposit the money into your account (or reinvest it, according to your preference).
04 | Do it gradually
The most basic way to put this principle into practice is to automatically invest a percentage of your income each week or month. This is typically done via 401k contributions through your employer but can be done on your own as well.
One of the most common mistakes I’ve made over the years is buying and selling with an ‘all-or-nothing’ attitude. There was once some logic to this. For many years, making a trade cost money. I once paid $20 per trade, then $15, $10, $5, and finally — due mainly to pressure from Robinhood’s free trading platform — most brokerages finally did away with trading fees entirely. In a world in which each trade ate into your profit, it made sense to minimize the number of trades you did. But in a ‘free-trade’ world you can buy or sell a single share at a time without stressing over fees, making it easier to enter and exit positions more carefully. This is known as dollar-cost averaging, and it’s even available to users on many investment platforms (even Coinbase and Fundrise) to help you avoid ‘market-timing’ tendencies.
These days I buy and sell in smaller chunks, which helps ensure I’m not missing out on big price movements up or down. Reaping profits occasionally also ensures you have dry powder to deploy when the market heads south. If all your cash is tied up in stocks, you’ll be unable to take advantage of rare buying opportunities.
My main rule of thumb is to buy on red days and sell on green days — meaning only buy when the market is down and only sell when it’s up.
Another recent and related innovation is fractional investing. Since many stocks have per-share prices outside the reach of new investors (Amazon trades near $2500/share, to say nothing of Berkshire-Hathaway Class A’s $250,000+ share price), fractional investing lets you buy slices of shares based on whatever amount you can afford. If you want in on Amazon but you’ve only got $100 — fractional investing gets you started with 1/25 of a share. This feature is now available to Fidelity and Robinhood customers, and perhaps others too.
05 | Don’t believe the hype + Don’t panic
Yes, I’m squeezing two principles in one, because five feels better than six-plus these are essentially two sides of the same coin. It’s essentially another way of phrasing Buffett’s famous ‘Be fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful’ adage. The point here is: don’t let emotion guide your decisions, because emotions will lead you astray. Every. Time.
Let’s start with hype avoidance. These days, especially with help from the YOLO-style traders found on wallstreetbets (intentionally not linking out, as I don’t want to encourage risky behavior) as well as residual behavior from the days of daily double-digit gains in crypto prices in 2017, you’ll sometimes see stocks that skyrocket without any apparent basis in fiscal reality. To take two recent examples, TSLA (Tesla) and SPCE (Virgin Galactic), both of which saw hockey-stick shaped growth in their share price in a matter of weeks. In 2018 it was weed stocks, and before that, crypto. And it’s always happening with various so-called penny stocks, which are often pharmaceutical companies. (FYI: Penny stocks are not necessarily worth just pennies, but generally less than $5 per share.) For example, pharma stocks might soar due to a drug trial that goes well, then come crashing back to earth if the FDA ultimately rejects it.
I tend to avoid hype stocks, though I have still learned lessons about them since I’ve sometimes found myself inadvertently owning a hype stock.
Bonus golden rule #6: Don’t take investing advice from someone who gets Warren Buffett confused with Golden Corral.
Hopefully, you found this a helpful introduction.
Thanks

About FortuneJack Crypto Casino

Bitcoin casinos have become increasingly popular recently, particularly in markets where online gambling transactions aren’t always easy to process. Many sites that once only used traditional banking methods now offer the cryptocurrency as an additional option, while others have developed their entire casinos around the digital currency, going so far as to place all bets in Bitcoin (BTC).
One of the more prominent sites in that latter category is FortuneJack. This Internet casino is fully devoted to being played in BTC, from the time you deposit to the time you cash out. There are bonuses that use the currency, and all of your gameplay will be done in it as well, meaning you never need to use any of your sensitive financial information to play here. Back that up with a solid selection of games, and you have a very solid option in this emerging area of online gaming.

FortuneJack Payments

In what is a fairly unique design decision, FortuneJack doesn’t use any standardly-issued currencies at all in its banking system. That means that you cannot deposit or withdraw in dollars, euros, pounds, or anything else that you might be storing in your bank account.
So how can you play? The site uses a variety of different cryptocurrencies to power its games, and you can do both your deposits and withdrawals in any of these. You can also use the exchange interface to – as the name would suggest – exchange between any of a number of popular digital coins. The complete list of supported virtual currencies includes:
  • Bitcoin
  • Litecoin
  • Dogecoin
  • Ethereum
  • Zcash
  • Dash
  • Bitcoin crash
  • Monero
One of the great things about this system is that it allows you to make withdrawals instantly, without the delays seen at most casino sites. One potential drawback is that it can be tricky to get started if you’ve never purchased a cryptocurrency before; however, the site does provide a convenient link to Indacoin, which provides a quick and simple way to purchase Bitcoin.

FortuneJack Games

Often, sites that are a bit quirky and offer something unique come up a little short when it comes to game selection. However, that’s not the case at FortuneJack, as the operator has partnered with several major software developers in order to put together a robust selection of titles for players to choose from. You’ll see games from Betsoft, Endorphina and others here, along with some truly different options that aren’t popularly offered throughout the industry.
Let’s start with slots. If you’re familiar with Betsoft, you know that their 3D slots are some of the most popular games in the online casino industry thanks to their outstanding graphics and interactive bonus features. These games are augmented by a number of other games from other providers, including a Bitcoin-themed title known as Satoshi Secret. Some of the most popular machines include:
  • Greedy Goblins
  • Rock Star
  • Mega Gems
  • Mr. Vegas
  • Mamma Mia!
  • Blast! Boom! Bang!
  • 4 of a King
  • Fairy Tale
  • The Ninja
  • Pachamama
When it comes to table games, you’ll find plenty of common choices like roulette and blackjack variants. But where FortuneJack really shines is in its selection of live dealer games. These tables are presented to players over a live video stream, where you can watch a real human dealer use actual casino equipment to determine the results of each bet. It’s the closest you can get to playing at a real resort on your computer. This site has one of the biggest selection of live dealer games we’ve seen yet, including the following choices:
  • Blackjack
  • Roulette
  • Baccarat
  • Sic Bo
  • Dragon Tiger
Other games include keno, bingo, a dice game, and a binary trading option for those looking to mix the Forex currency trading market with their casino play.

FortuneJack Promotions

FortuneJack offers players a 100% matching bonus on their first deposit. Given the theme here, it’s only natural that the maximum bonus amount is expressed in cryptocurrency: in this case, it is 3 BTC. This bonus is fully cashable and carries a wagering requirement of 40 times the initial deposit amount. Various games will clear this promotion at different rates: while live games contribute just 5% of each bet, keno counts for 100% of each wager you make, with most other options falling somewhere in between.
Overall, the terms and conditions of this promotion are rather fair. While you’ll void the bonus if you try to cash out before you’ve cleared it entirely, you’ll still be allowed to keep all of your winnings to that point. In addition, you’ll have as long as you want to finish clearing this reward – there is no time limit for you to work around.
>> Get No Deposit Bonus <<

Software

Thanks to their instant play software package, there is no need to download anything to play at FortuneJack. Instead, you’ll simply need to log into your account on their website, and you’ll have instant access to all of the games in their collection. The only thing you may wish to do is ensure that your web browser of choice is up to date; beyond that, you should have little problem playing regardless of the operating system or other software you are running. We should note, however, that there is no dedicated support for mobile gaming here; while it’s possible that you might get parts of the casino running properly on a tablet or phone, there are no guarantees of that at this time.
>> Get No Deposit Bonus <<

Overall Impressions

On the whole, we have been very impressed by FortuneJack. This site handles the Bitcoin gaming experience better than just about any we’ve seen, and the fact that many other digital currencies are also accepted here is a wonderful touch. The game selection and promotions are also great, meaning that for players who want to gamble with cryptocurrencies, this might just be the best option out there.
Still, this isn’t a site for everyone. The lack of traditional banking options may make this site confusing or inconvenient for some players, and we’d like to see them add mobile-optimized options at some point. If you’re looking for a classic online casino, other sites may be more up your alley. But if you’re ready to venture into the world of BTC gaming, FortuneJack is a great place to get started.

What Is Capitalism?

Capitalism is an economic system in which private individuals or businesses own capital goods. The production of goods and services is based on supply and demand in the general market—known as a market economy—rather than through central planning—known as a planned economy or command economy.
The purest form of capitalism is free market or laissez-faire capitalism. Here, private individuals are unrestrained. They may determine where to invest, what to produce or sell, and at which prices to exchange goods and services. The laissez-faire marketplace operates without checks or controls.
Today, most countries practice a mixed capitalist system that includes some degree of government regulation of business and ownership of select industries.

Capitalism

Understanding Capitalism

Functionally speaking, capitalism is one process by which the problems of economic production and resource distribution might be resolved. Instead of planning economic decisions through centralized political methods, as with socialism or feudalism, economic planning under capitalism occurs via decentralized and voluntary decisions.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Capitalism is an economic system characterized by private ownership of the means of production, especially in the industrial sector.
  • Capitalism depends on the enforcement of private property rights, which provide incentives for investment in and productive use of productive capital.
  • Capitalism developed historically out of previous systems of feudalism and mercantilism in Europe, and dramatically expanded industrialization and the large-scale availability of mass-market consumer goods.
  • Pure capitalism can be contrasted with pure socialism (where all means of production are collective or state-owned) and mixed economies (which lie on a continuum between pure capitalism and pure socialism).
  • The real-world practice of capitalism typically involves some degree of so-called “crony capitalism” due to demands from business for favorable government intervention and governments’ incentive to intervene in the economy.

Capitalism and Private Property

Private property rights are fundamental to capitalism. Most modern concepts of private property stem from John Locke's theory of homesteading, in which human beings claim ownership through mixing their labor with unclaimed resources. Once owned, the only legitimate means of transferring property are through voluntary exchange, gifts, inheritance, or re-homesteading of abandoned property.
Private property promotes efficiency by giving the owner of resources an incentive to maximize the value of their property. So, the more valuable the resource is, the more trading power it provides the owner. In a capitalist system, the person who owns the property is entitled to any value associated with that property.
For individuals or businesses to deploy their capital goods confidently, a system must exist that protects their legal right to own or transfer private property. A capitalist society will rely on the use of contracts, fair dealing, and tort law to facilitate and enforce these private property rights.
When a property is not privately owned but shared by the public, a problem known as the tragedy of the commons can emerge. With a common pool resource, which all people can use, and none can limit access to, all individuals have an incentive to extract as much use value as they can and no incentive to conserve or reinvest in the resource. Privatizing the resource is one possible solution to this problem, along with various voluntary or involuntary collective action approaches.

Capitalism, Profits, and Losses

Profits are closely associated with the concept of private property. By definition, an individual only enters into a voluntary exchange of private property when they believe the exchange benefits them in some psychic or material way. In such trades, each party gains extra subjective value, or profit, from the transaction.
Voluntary trade is the mechanism that drives activity in a capitalist system. The owners of resources compete with one another over consumers, who in turn, compete with other consumers over goods and services. All of this activity is built into the price system, which balances supply and demand to coordinate the distribution of resources.
A capitalist earns the highest profit by using capital goods most efficiently while producing the highest-value good or service. In this system, information about what is highest-valued is transmitted through those prices at which another individual voluntarily purchases the capitalist's good or service. Profits are an indication that less valuable inputs have been transformed into more valuable outputs. By contrast, the capitalist suffers losses when capital resources are not used efficiently and instead create less valuable outputs.

Free Enterprise or Capitalism?

Capitalism and free enterprise are often seen as synonymous. In truth, they are closely related yet distinct terms with overlapping features. It is possible to have a capitalist economy without complete free enterprise, and possible to have a free market without capitalism.
Any economy is capitalist as long as private individuals control the factors of production. However, a capitalist system can still be regulated by government laws, and the profits of capitalist endeavors can still be taxed heavily.
"Free enterprise" can roughly be understood to mean economic exchanges free of coercive government influence. Although unlikely, it is possible to conceive of a system where individuals choose to hold all property rights in common. Private property rights still exist in a free enterprise system, although the private property may be voluntarily treated as communal without a government mandate.
Many Native American tribes existed with elements of these arrangements, and within a broader capitalist economic family, clubs, co-ops, and joint-stock business firms like partnerships or corporations are all examples of common property institutions.
If accumulation, ownership, and profiting from capital is the central principle of capitalism, then freedom from state coercion is the central principle of free enterprise.

Feudalism the Root of Capitalism

Capitalism grew out of European feudalism. Up until the 12th century, less than 5% of the population of Europe lived in towns. Skilled workers lived in the city but received their keep from feudal lords rather than a real wage, and most workers were serfs for landed nobles. However, by the late Middle Ages rising urbanism, with cities as centers of industry and trade, become more and more economically important.
The advent of true wages offered by the trades encouraged more people to move into towns where they could get money rather than subsistence in exchange for labor. Families’ extra sons and daughters who needed to be put to work, could find new sources of income in the trade towns. Child labor was as much a part of the town's economic development as serfdom was part of the rural life.

Mercantilism Replaces Feudalism

Mercantilism gradually replaced the feudal economic system in Western Europe and became the primary economic system of commerce during the 16th to 18th centuries. Mercantilism started as trade between towns, but it was not necessarily competitive trade. Initially, each town had vastly different products and services that were slowly homogenized by demand over time.
After the homogenization of goods, trade was carried out in broader and broader circles: town to town, county to county, province to province, and, finally, nation to nation. When too many nations were offering similar goods for trade, the trade took on a competitive edge that was sharpened by strong feelings of nationalism in a continent that was constantly embroiled in wars.
Colonialism flourished alongside mercantilism, but the nations seeding the world with settlements were not trying to increase trade. Most colonies were set up with an economic system that smacked of feudalism, with their raw goods going back to the motherland and, in the case of the British colonies in North America, being forced to repurchase the finished product with a pseudo-currency that prevented them from trading with other nations.
It was Adam Smith who noticed that mercantilism was not a force of development and change, but a regressive system that was creating trade imbalances between nations and keeping them from advancing. His ideas for a free market opened the world to capitalism.

Growth of Industrial Capitalism

Smith's ideas were well-timed, as the Industrial Revolution was starting to cause tremors that would soon shake the Western world. The (often literal) gold mine of colonialism had brought new wealth and new demand for the products of domestic industries, which drove the expansion and mechanization of production. As technology leaped ahead and factories no longer had to be built near waterways or windmills to function, industrialists began building in the cities where there were now thousands of people to supply ready labor.
Industrial tycoons were the first people to amass their wealth in their lifetimes, often outstripping both the landed nobles and many of the money lending/banking families. For the first time in history, common people could have hopes of becoming wealthy. The new money crowd built more factories that required more labor, while also producing more goods for people to purchase.
During this period, the term "capitalism"—originating from the Latin word "capitalis," which means "head of cattle"—was first used by French socialist Louis Blanc in 1850, to signify a system of exclusive ownership of industrial means of production by private individuals rather than shared ownership.
Contrary to popular belief, Karl Marx did not coin the word "capitalism," although he certainly contributed to the rise of its use.

Industrial Capitalism's Effects

Industrial capitalism tended to benefit more levels of society rather than just the aristocratic class. Wages increased, helped greatly by the formation of unions. The standard of living also increased with the glut of affordable products being mass-produced. This growth led to the formation of a middle class and began to lift more and more people from the lower classes to swell its ranks.
The economic freedoms of capitalism matured alongside democratic political freedoms, liberal individualism, and the theory of natural rights. This unified maturity is not to say, however, that all capitalist systems are politically free or encourage individual liberty. Economist Milton Friedman, an advocate of capitalism and individual liberty, wrote in Capitalism and Freedom (1962) that "capitalism is a necessary condition for political freedom. It is not a sufficient condition."
A dramatic expansion of the financial sector accompanied the rise of industrial capitalism. Banks had previously served as warehouses for valuables, clearinghouses for long-distance trade, or lenders to nobles and governments. Now they came to serve the needs of everyday commerce and the intermediation of credit for large, long-term investment projects. By the 20th century, as stock exchanges became increasingly public and investment vehicles opened up to more individuals, some economists identified a variation on the system: financial capitalism.

Capitalism and Economic Growth

By creating incentives for entrepreneurs to reallocate away resources from unprofitable channels and into areas where consumers value them more highly, capitalism has proven a highly effective vehicle for economic growth.
Before the rise of capitalism in the 18th and 19th centuries, rapid economic growth occurred primarily through conquest and extraction of resources from conquered peoples. In general, this was a localized, zero-sum process. Research suggests average global per-capita income was unchanged between the rise of agricultural societies through approximately 1750 when the roots of the first Industrial Revolution took hold.
In subsequent centuries, capitalist production processes have greatly enhanced productive capacity. More and better goods became cheaply accessible to wide populations, raising standards of living in previously unthinkable ways. As a result, most political theorists and nearly all economists argue that capitalism is the most efficient and productive system of exchange.

Capitalism vs. Socialism

In terms of political economy, capitalism is often pitted against socialism. The fundamental difference between capitalism and socialism is the ownership and control of the means of production. In a capitalist economy, property and businesses are owned and controlled by individuals. In a socialist economy, the state owns and manages the vital means of production. However, other differences also exist in the form of equity, efficiency, and employment.

Equity

The capitalist economy is unconcerned about equitable arrangements. The argument is that inequality is the driving force that encourages innovation, which then pushes economic development. The primary concern of the socialist model is the redistribution of wealth and resources from the rich to the poor, out of fairness, and to ensure equality in opportunity and equality of outcome. Equality is valued above high achievement, and the collective good is viewed above the opportunity for individuals to advance.

Efficiency

The capitalist argument is that the profit incentive drives corporations to develop innovative new products that are desired by the consumer and have demand in the marketplace. It is argued that the state ownership of the means of production leads to inefficiency because, without the motivation to earn more money, management, workers, and developers are less likely to put forth the extra effort to push new ideas or products.

Employment

In a capitalist economy, the state does not directly employ the workforce. This lack of government-run employment can lead to unemployment during economic recessions and depressions. In a socialist economy, the state is the primary employer. During times of economic hardship, the socialist state can order hiring, so there is full employment. Also, there tends to be a stronger "safety net" in socialist systems for workers who are injured or permanently disabled. Those who can no longer work have fewer options available to help them in capitalist societies.

Mixed System vs. Pure Capitalism

When the government owns some but not all of the means of production, but government interests may legally circumvent, replace, limit, or otherwise regulate private economic interests, that is said to be a mixed economy or mixed economic system. A mixed economy respects property rights, but places limits on them.
Property owners are restricted with regards to how they exchange with one another. These restrictions come in many forms, such as minimum wage laws, tariffs, quotas, windfall taxes, license restrictions, prohibited products or contracts, direct public expropriation, anti-trust legislation, legal tender laws, subsidies, and eminent domain. Governments in mixed economies also fully or partly own and operate certain industries, especially those considered public goods, often enforcing legally binding monopolies in those industries to prohibit competition by private entities.
In contrast, pure capitalism, also known as laissez-faire capitalism or anarcho-capitalism, (such as professed by Murray N. Rothbard) all industries are left up to private ownership and operation, including public goods, and no central government authority provides regulation or supervision of economic activity in general.
The standard spectrum of economic systems places laissez-faire capitalism at one extreme and a complete planned economy—such as communism—at the other. Everything in the middle could be said to be a mixed economy. The mixed economy has elements of both central planning and unplanned private business.
By this definition, nearly every country in the world has a mixed economy, but contemporary mixed economies range in their levels of government intervention. The U.S. and the U.K. have a relatively pure type of capitalism with a minimum of federal regulation in financial and labor markets—sometimes known as Anglo-Saxon capitalism—while Canada and the Nordic countries have created a balance between socialism and capitalism.
Many European nations practice welfare capitalism, a system that is concerned with the social welfare of the worker, and includes such policies as state pensions, universal healthcare, collective bargaining, and industrial safety codes.

Crony Capitalism

Crony capitalism refers to a capitalist society that is based on the close relationships between business people and the state. Instead of success being determined by a free market and the rule of law, the success of a business is dependent on the favoritism that is shown to it by the government in the form of tax breaks, government grants, and other incentives.
In practice, this is the dominant form of capitalism worldwide due to the powerful incentives both faced by governments to extract resources by taxing, regulating, and fostering rent-seeking activity, and those faced by capitalist businesses to increase profits by obtaining subsidies, limiting competition, and erecting barriers to entry. In effect, these forces represent a kind of supply and demand for government intervention in the economy, which arises from the economic system itself.
Crony capitalism is widely blamed for a range of social and economic woes. Both socialists and capitalists blame each other for the rise of crony capitalism. Socialists believe that crony capitalism is the inevitable result of pure capitalism. On the other hand, capitalists believe that crony capitalism arises from the need of socialist governments to control the economy.

Bitcoin is a digital currency created in January 2009. It follows the ideas set out in a white paper by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, whose true identity is yet to be verified. Bitcoin offers the promise of lower transaction fees than traditional online payment mechanisms and is operated by a decentralized authority, unlike government-issued currencies.
There are no physical bitcoins, only balances kept on a public ledger in the cloud, that – along with all Bitcoin transactions – is verified by a massive amount of computing power. Bitcoins are not issued or backed by any banks or governments, nor are individual bitcoins valuable as a commodity. Despite it not being legal tender, Bitcoin charts high on popularity, and has triggered the launch of other virtual currencies collectively referred to as Altcoins.
Understanding Bitcoin Bitcoin is a type of cryptocurrency: Balances are kept using public and private "keys," which are long strings of numbers and letters linked through the mathematical encryption algorithm that was used to create them. The public key (comparable to a bank account number) serves as the address which is published to the world and to which others may send bitcoins. The private key (comparable to an ATM PIN) is meant to be a guarded secret and only used to authorize Bitcoin transmissions. Style notes: According to the official Bitcoin Foundation, the word "Bitcoin" is capitalized in the context of referring to the entity or concept, whereas "bitcoin" is written in the lower case when referring to a quantity of the currency (e.g. "I traded 20 bitcoin") or the units themselves. The plural form can be either "bitcoin" or "bitcoins."
How Bitcoin Works Bitcoin is one of the first digital currencies to use peer-to-peer technology to facilitate instant payments. The independent individuals and companies who own the governing computing power and participate in the Bitcoin network, also known as "miners," are motivated by rewards (the release of new bitcoin) and transaction fees paid in bitcoin. These miners can be thought of as the decentralized authority enforcing the credibility of the Bitcoin network. New bitcoin is being released to the miners at a fixed, but periodically declining rate, such that the total supply of bitcoins approaches 21 million. One bitcoin is divisible to eight decimal places (100 millionths of one bitcoin), and this smallest unit is referred to as a Satoshi. If necessary, and if the participating miners accept the change, Bitcoin could eventually be made divisible to even more decimal places. Bitcoin mining is the process through which bitcoins are released to come into circulation. Basically, it involves solving a computationally difficult puzzle to discover a new block, which is added to the blockchain and receiving a reward in the form of a few bitcoins. The block reward was 50 new bitcoins in 2009; it decreases every four years. As more and more bitcoins are created, the difficulty of the mining process – that is, the amount of computing power involved – increases. The mining difficulty began at 1.0 with Bitcoin's debut back in 2009; at the end of the year, it was only 1.18. As of February 2019, the mining difficulty is over 6.06 billion. Once, an ordinary desktop computer sufficed for the mining process; now, to combat the difficulty level, miners must use faster hardware like Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), more advanced processing units like Graphic Processing Units (GPUs), etc.
What's a Bitcoin Worth? In 2017 alone, the price of Bitcoin rose from a little under $1,000 at the beginning of the year to close to $19,000, ending the year more than 1,400% higher. Bitcoin's price is also quite dependent on the size of its mining network since the larger the network is, the more difficult – and thus more costly – it is to produce new bitcoins. As a result, the price of bitcoin has to increase as its cost of production also rises. The Bitcoin mining network's aggregate power has more than tripled over the past twelve months.
How Bitcoin Began
Aug. 18, 2008: The domain name bitcoin.org is registered. Today, at least, this domain is "WhoisGuard Protected," meaning the identity of the person who registered it is not public information.
Oct. 31, 2008: Someone using the name Satoshi Nakamoto makes an announcement on The Cryptography Mailing list at metzdowd.com: "I've been working on a new electronic cash system that's fully peer-to-peer, with no trusted third party. The paper is available at http://www.bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf." This link leads to the now-famous white paper published on bitcoin.org entitled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." This paper would become the Magna Carta for how Bitcoin operates today.
Jan. 3, 2009: The first Bitcoin block is mined, Block 0. This is also known as the "genesis block" and contains the text: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks," perhaps as proof that the block was mined on or after that date, and perhaps also as relevant political commentary.
Jan. 8, 2009: The first version of the Bitcoin software is announced on The Cryptography Mailing list.
Jan. 9, 2009: Block 1 is mined, and Bitcoin mining commences in earnest.
Who Invented Bitcoin?
No one knows. Not conclusively, at any rate. Satoshi Nakamoto is the name associated with the person or group of people who released the original Bitcoin white paper in 2008 and worked on the original Bitcoin software that was released in 2009. The Bitcoin protocol requires users to enter a birthday upon signup, and we know that an individual named Satoshi Nakamoto registered and put down April 5 as a birth date. And that's about it.
Before Satoshi
Though it is tempting to believe the media's spin that Satoshi Nakamoto is a solitary, quixotic genius who created Bitcoin out of thin air, such innovations do not happen in a vacuum. All major scientific discoveries, no matter how original-seeming, were built on previously existing research. There are precursors to Bitcoin: Adam Back’s Hashcash, invented in 1997, and subsequently Wei Dai’s b-money, Nick Szabo’s bit gold and Hal Finney’s Reusable Proof of Work. The Bitcoin white paper itself cites Hashcash and b-money, as well as various other works spanning several research fields.
Why Is Satoshi Anonymous?
There are two primary motivations for keeping Bitcoin's inventor keeping his or her or their identity secret. One is privacy. As Bitcoin has gained in popularity – becoming something of a worldwide phenomenon – Satoshi Nakamoto would likely garner a lot of attention from the media and from governments.
The other reason is safety. Looking at 2009 alone, 32,489 blocks were mined; at the then-reward rate of 50 BTC per block, the total payout in 2009 was 1,624,500 BTC, which at today’s prices is over $900 million. One may conclude that only Satoshi and perhaps a few other people were mining through 2009 and that they possess a majority of that $900 million worth of BTC. Someone in possession of that much BTC could become a target of criminals, especially since bitcoins are less like stocks and more like cash, where the private keys needed to authorize spending could be printed out and literally kept under a mattress. While it's likely the inventor of Bitcoin would take precautions to make any extortion-induced transfers traceable, remaining anonymous is a good way for Satoshi to limit exposure.
The Suspects
Numerous people have been suggested as possible Satoshi Nakamoto by major media outlets. Oct. 10, 2011, The New Yorker published an article speculating that Nakamoto might be Irish cryptography student Michael Clear or economic sociologist Vili Lehdonvirta. A day later, Fast Company suggested that Nakamoto could be a group of three people – Neal King, Vladimir Oksman and Charles Bry – who together appear on a patent related to secure communications that were filed two months before bitcoin.org was registered. A Vice article published in May 2013 added more suspects to the list, including Gavin Andresen, the Bitcoin project’s lead developer; Jed McCaleb, co-founder of now-defunct Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox; and famed Japanese mathematician Shinichi Mochizuki.
In December 2013, Techcrunch published an interview with researcher Skye Grey who claimed textual analysis of published writings shows a link between Satoshi and bit-gold creator Nick Szabo. And perhaps most famously, in March 2014, Newsweek ran a cover article claiming that Satoshi is actually an individual named Satoshi Nakamoto – a 64-year-old Japanese-American engineer living in California. The list of suspects is long, and all the individuals deny being Satoshi.
Can Satoshi's Identity Be Proven?
It would seem even early collaborators on the project don’t have verifiable proof of Satoshi’s identity. To reveal conclusively who Satoshi Nakamoto is, a definitive link would need to be made between his/her activity with Bitcoin and his/her identity. That could come in the form of linking the party behind the domain registration of bitcoin.org, email and forum accounts used by Satoshi Nakamoto, or ownership of some portion of the earliest mined bitcoins. Even though the bitcoins Satoshi likely possesses are traceable on the blockchain, it seems he/she has yet to cash them out in a way that reveals his/her identity. If Satoshi were to move his/her bitcoins to an exchange today, this might attract attention, but it seems unlikely that a well-funded and successful exchange would betray a customer's privacy.
Receiving Bitcoins As Payment
Bitcoins can be accepted as a means of payment for products sold or services provided. If you have a brick and mortar store, just display a sign saying “Bitcoin Accepted Here” and many of your customers may well take you up on it; the transactions can be handled with the requisite hardware terminal or wallet address through QR codes and touch screen apps. An online business can easily accept bitcoins by just adding this payment option to the others it offers, like credit cards, PayPal, etc. Online payments will require a Bitcoin merchant tool (an external processor like Coinbase or BitPay).
Working For Bitcoins
Those who are self-employed can get paid for a job in bitcoins. There are several websites/job boards which are dedicated to the digital currency:
Work For Bitcoin brings together work seekers and prospective employers through its websiteCoinality features jobs – freelance, part-time and full-time – that offer payment in bitcoins, as well as Dogecoin and LitecoinJobs4Bitcoins, part of reddit.comBitGigs
Bitcoin From Interest Payments
Another interesting way (literally) to earn bitcoins is by lending them out and being repaid in the currency. Lending can take three forms – direct lending to someone you know; through a website which facilitates peer-to-peer transactions, pairing borrowers and lenders; or depositing bitcoins in a virtual bank that offers a certain interest rate for Bitcoin accounts. Some such sites are Bitbond, BitLendingClub, and BTCjam. Obviously, you should do due diligence on any third-party site.
Bitcoins From Gambling
It’s possible to play at casinos that cater to Bitcoin aficionados, with options like online lotteries, jackpots, spread betting, and other games. Of course, the pros and cons and risks that apply to any sort of gambling and betting endeavors are in force here too.
Investing in Bitcoins
There are many Bitcoin supporters who believe that digital currency is the future. Those who endorse it are of the view that it facilitates a much faster, no-fee payment system for transactions across the globe. Although it is not itself any backed by any government or central bank, bitcoin can be exchanged for traditional currencies; in fact, its exchange rate against the dollar attracts potential investors and traders interested in currency plays. Indeed, one of the primary reasons for the growth of digital currencies like Bitcoin is that they can act as an alternative to national fiat money and traditional commodities like gold.
In March 2014, the IRS stated that all virtual currencies, including bitcoins, would be taxed as property rather than currency. Gains or losses from bitcoins held as capital will be realized as capital gains or losses, while bitcoins held as inventory will incur ordinary gains or losses.
Like any other asset, the principle of buying low and selling high applies to bitcoins. The most popular way of amassing the currency is through buying on a Bitcoin exchange, but there are many other ways to earn and own bitcoins. Here are a few options which Bitcoin enthusiasts can explore.
Risks of Bitcoin Investing
Though Bitcoin was not designed as a normal equity investment (no shares have been issued), some speculative investors were drawn to the digital money after it appreciated rapidly in May 2011 and again in November 2013. Thus, many people purchase bitcoin for its investment value rather than as a medium of exchange.
However, their lack of guaranteed value and digital nature means the purchase and use of bitcoins carries several inherent risks. Many investor alerts have been issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and other agencies.
The concept of a virtual currency is still novel and, compared to traditional investments, Bitcoin doesn't have much of a long-term track record or history of credibility to back it. With their increasing use, bitcoins are becoming less experimental every day, of course; still, after eight years, they (like all digital currencies) remain in a development phase, still evolving. "It is pretty much the highest-risk, highest-return investment that you can possibly make,” says Barry Silbert, CEO of Digital Currency Group, which builds and invests in Bitcoin and blockchain companies.
Bitcoin Regulatory Risk
Investing money into Bitcoin in any of its many guises is not for the risk-averse. Bitcoins are a rival to government currency and may be used for black market transactions, money laundering, illegal activities or tax evasion. As a result, governments may seek to regulate, restrict or ban the use and sale of bitcoins, and some already have. Others are coming up with various rules. For example, in 2015, the New York State Department of Financial Services finalized regulations that would require companies dealing with the buy, sell, transfer or storage of bitcoins to record the identity of customers, have a compliance officer and maintain capital reserves. The transactions worth $10,000 or more will have to be recorded and reported.
Although more agencies will follow suit, issuing rules and guidelines, the lack of uniform regulations about bitcoins (and other virtual currency) raises questions over their longevity, liquidity, and universality.
Security Risk of Bitcoins
Bitcoin exchanges are entirely digital and, as with any virtual system, are at risk from hackers, malware and operational glitches. If a thief gains access to a Bitcoin owner's computer hard drive and steals his private encryption key, he could transfer the stolen Bitcoins to another account. (Users can prevent this only if bitcoins are stored on a computer which is not connected to the internet, or else by choosing to use a paper wallet – printing out the Bitcoin private keys and addresses, and not keeping them on a computer at all.) Hackers can also target Bitcoin exchanges, gaining access to thousands of accounts and digital wallets where bitcoins are stored. One especially notorious hacking incident took place in 2014, when Mt. Gox, a Bitcoin exchange in Japan, was forced to close down after millions of dollars worth of bitcoins were stolen.
This is particularly problematic once you remember that all Bitcoin transactions are permanent and irreversible. It's like dealing with cash: Any transaction carried out with bitcoins can only be reversed if the person who has received them refunds them. There is no third party or a payment processor, as in the case of a debit or credit card – hence, no source of protection or appeal if there is a problem.
Insurance Risk
Some investments are insured through the Securities Investor Protection Corporation. Normal bank accounts are insured through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) up to a certain amount depending on the jurisdiction. Bitcoin exchanges and Bitcoin accounts are not insured by any type of federal or government program.
Risk of Bitcoin Fraud
While Bitcoin uses private key encryption to verify owners and register transactions, fraudsters and scammers may attempt to sell false bitcoins. For instance, in July 2013, the SEC brought legal action against an operator of a Bitcoin-related Ponzi scheme.
Market Risk
Like with any investment, Bitcoin values can fluctuate. Indeed, the value of the currency has seen wild swings in price over its short existence. Subject to high volume buying and selling on exchanges, it has a high sensitivity to “news." According to the CFPB, the price of bitcoins fell by 61% in a single day in 2013, while the one-day price drop in 2014 has been as big as 80%.
If fewer people begin to accept Bitcoin as a currency, these digital units may lose value and could become worthless. There is already plenty of competition, and though Bitcoin has a huge lead over the other 100-odd digital currencies that have sprung up, thanks to its brand recognition and venture capital money, a technological break-through in the form of a better virtual coin is always a threat.
Bitcoin's Tax Risk
As bitcoin is ineligible to be included in any tax-advantaged retirement accounts, there are no good, legal options to shield investments from taxation.

Coinmetro Exchange will set the new bar for trading- away with BTC deciding our values!

I'd like to share some words about coinmetro. I've seen alot of ico's but this is the first one im investing in.
I'd like to start of with saying that i hate that in the crypto currency world, bitcoin is the rules of all coins. If bitcoin goes down, all alts go down. Why? Because every alt is traded with bitcoin only- It's value depends on bitcoin. This is wrong, as every coin should have its own value. Coinmetro is here to change this behavior, and i think it will set a example for other exchanges to follow.
Top reasons why coinmetro will succeed:
  1. They will trade all coins versus FIAT. No btc- no tether- FIAT. So no need to use a shady tether coin anymore, for the same price. 0,1% trade commision and youre all back to dollars or euro's.
  2. Because of this, coins will stand alone alot stronger, instead of being dependant on bitcoin's value. Currently, only bitcoin's value really makes the market.
  3. TAM managers. You know all of the bloggers, discord and telegrams etc who claim to be good traders? Now you can invest into those traders, literary. Then you make profit when they make profit, and lose money when they lose money. This feature is planned to roll out later though.
  4. Fiat withdrawals and deposits to credit cards and SEPA transfers, without applying fees themselfs. Only what the bank or CC company charges them.
  5. Debit card. (Although have my doubts about this one, since alot other companys fail here)
  6. Their own coin will ONLY be available through their own exchange. So again, no other platform will be trading their XCM against BTC. So if btc tanks like a rock, XCM will still hold its value.
  7. A token buyback program with 20% of net profits per quarter, of both coinmetro and their successfull FXpig forex trading platform.
  8. Proven to be a good company- they developed fxpig, wich is quite high rated when looking it up.
  9. Every transaction you do on coinmetro will buy 0,1% of the market price of XCM and give most to coinmetro for profit, and burn a small percentage of that.
  10. A permanent trading discount of 25% if you invest the minimum amount in their ICO.
  11. The more XCM you own, the more discount you get. This makes big players want to have a good stash of coins.
  12. More advanced trading options then most exchanges out there.
  13. Their ICO goes slow. Alot and ALOT of burned tokens are coming.
  14. US citizens cannot participate in the ICO, but will be able to register and use the exchange after the ICO. This means alot of potential buyers.
  15. 2.5% extra bonus tokens if you use a referal link. Find one or ask (me) one. Note: Only on your first purchase, and the person giving the link received 5% bonus tokens.
Personally im really hyped about their fiat options. I dont need to use tether anymore, or to sell tether into litecoin and sell that for euro or dollar.
I hated using bitpanda wich charges ridiculous fees for selling to euro. But with all the story's about tether, i really disliked that as well.
But that's enough about coinmetro! Always do your own research and have fun crypto'ing!

It all starts with a random phone call...

The job? I cold called Nigerians and South Africans, convince them to open a CFD trading account with up to 1:400 leverage and make them deposit as much money as possible. Now, a bit of background;
This was happening in Sofia, Bulgaria and as much as I know, still does. The poorest country in the EU. Average monthly salary is $700, average monthly pension is around $180. Imagine a low budget version of the shittiest boiler room movie you can recall. You are not even close. A Turkish prison looks much better. Not even a cubicle. A table, and as much people sitting on, below, around it, etc. So, you are calling those people and you chase them 8 hours a day, with the sole purpose of taking their money. Lying is okay, no regulation, dialing through a VPN, using stage names. Now, the people who worked there were mostly young people, quite stupid to be honest. But really, really manipulative, deceiving, sneaky, stone cold liars. In my working docs, it said I was a "marketing specialist". In the actual company though, you are either "sales" or "retention". The sales agent must close the lead, gets a deal on the board and passes it to the Retention agent. And the madness begins. CFD`s are banned in the US, so those types of companies work with the rest of the world. For the last 8 years, South Africa, Italy, Germany, UK and Spain are the biggest markets.
So, fast forward,a few months pass and I end up being a Retention agent. On my second day there, the boss comes out and says the Top10 salaries in the department. At this point of my life, I though $1500 is an amazing salary, considering the average is 7$00.
"$46 000, Mr.X" "$35 000, Mr.Y" Etc... Umm. What? So how you make so much money? Once you get a lead, your job is to tear him/her apart. Lie, manipulate, build chemistry, build solid KYC, promise the world, scam and take every last penny of the poor soul. 95% of the First Time Deposits are below the $500 mark. Then the retention agent makes sure to throw the poor soul in the ocean of CFDs. One thing amazes me quite a lot. Most of the people who open accounts are genuinely stupid, some are totally broke. The company wasnt regulated, there were like 250 comments in forums that we are scammers, but people still joined.
"But I read in the web that you are not regulated and you will steal my money"
"If I write an article that you are a gay, would this be true?"
Boom. That easy. Throughout my whole career I have literally seen amazing stuff ...a person saying "no" for 10 minutes straight. Then he deposited Grown ass men, being screamed at like they`re in 2nd grade. A guy from Nigeria, used to scream while depositing and losing $75 000.
He claimed he was the Tiger of Forex. Lost a bit more than $800 000.
Depositing and losing. The retention agent`s commission was based on the net amount of deposits and withdrawals of your portfolio. Depending on the money you had brought, the commission was between 3% and 8.3%. Different bonus accelerators, bonuses for trading volumes, spread generated, incentives, etc. The best agents brought between 350k/700k a month. Once again, almost nobody from the whole department knew anything about the financial markets. But once you get a lead who has no clue what is going on, you paint the picture.
When you can make a few hundred percent gain in a day... Why not? Literally can not go tits up.
We called the clients and the show began. Exposing their accounts on a 100%, calling them for more money when the margin went down, we educated them! You will be amazed, how a man can believe a voice in the phone more than he can trust his eyes and own mind. From day 1, you see what kind of a person you are dealing with. Some go massive yolo. Some open one trade a week. Some literally spend 18 hours a day, losing since the beginning. So, in a way,as an ex gambler I started to feel bad. Seen so many depleted credit cards, broken lives, it really put me in perspective. Yeah, money was good for a 22 year old. Seeing a few guys who were making upper 6 digits was quite motivating. Eventually I could not take it. I know how it feels, being a gambler. So, as I saw both sides of the coin
Took a break and a few years later I began working in a regulated company. But the job is still the same. I just can not lie... a lot : ). But I noticed something else. Now I am actually trying to help the clients. I don`t pitch them for more money. I am trying to really help. Literally telling them and warning them about everything that can go bad. Most folks now do not really want to speak with me, because they think I want to screw them (cant blame them) And somehow I reach the company target, while browsing reddit, smoking a pack a day, scratching my balls and going yolo on a demo account :) My question is: Should I leave my portfolio alone and see how much people will lose? Should I actually pitch them and chase their money and make more commission for me? Or should I continue trying to actually help them make money, but clearly waste my time?
PS: yolo, buy #vxxb (already inverted)

Need advice re. unlicensed stockbroker

[Disclaimer: I was incredibly stupid for falling for a scam. I know. I'm genuinely embarrassed by it. At this point all I'm looking for is a few opinions/advice. I also posted this on Trading, Forex and legaladvice]

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask a few questions, specifically about what legal powers unlicensed traders have over you.

In April to May of this year I was duped into an online scam promising automated trading software . In doing so, I chose X as the broker with which this automated trading should occur. I opened an account with X via a phone call in May of this year. I already knew this was odd, but played along out of ignorance and confusion. X seems/seemed quasi-legitimate (though unlicensed), but the means by which I opened an account with them were not. Suspecting that I had been scammed into depositing money with X, I decided almost immediately that I wanted to close it and filed a withdrawal request for the same day, wanting to withdraw all funds and subsequently close my account.
That was rejected, because I had not provided the sufficient ID, which I had never been asked for in the first place and I did not realise I needed to provide just yet. I was then told that I had missed my 48h window in which I could close the account. I received a Managed Account Agreement which I was told to sign should I wish to trade. I did not sign it, as I made it clear in a prior phone call that I did not wish to trade. I did not know how to close my account and was at the time too busy to further pursue the matter.
In an attempt to close the account and retrieve my funds I sent the necessary documentation to the compliance department. My second withdrawal request was then confirmed. Shortly after this, £100 were deducted from my account due to not trading for over 45 days (this is a policy they have), despite my making clear in the earlier telephone call, before my Managed Account Agreement was sent to me, that I had no interest in trading and did not wish to pursue the matter. I recently contacted two members of staff via webchat, who informed me that my second withdrawal request was denied due to insufficient funds. However, on my trading client account it still marks my request as “pending”. Furthermore, I was informed on the web chat that the minimum amount to be withdrawn from my account would be determined by my account manager. The account manager that I have not authorised to manage my account, as I haven't signed the form allowing them to.
So effectively I can't close my account because it has funds on it, but they won't let me withdraw the funds because that needs an account manager. It's an endless cycle, with a £100 monthly fee attached.
Their terms and conditions, as well as bonus terms and conditions state things such as:
"These Terms and any relationship between the Company and the Client shall be governed by law applicable in Anguilla and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seychelles courts. The Company shall have the right, in order to collect funds owed to the Company by Client or to protect the Company's rights such as good-name, intellectual property, privacy etc., to immediately bring legal proceedings against Client, in the Client's residency and according to the Client's residency applicable law."
"These Bonus Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the law of the Marshall Islands, without giving effect to the principles of the conflict of laws."
So, apart from being a lesson in not being scammed, and not using unlicensed traders, I've got a few questions:
1.) The company is registered in Sofia, Bulgaria, but they mention the Marshall Islands (Pacific), Seychelles (North of Madagascar) and Anguilla (Caribbean) in their terms (see above)? Legally how does that work? That seems quite fishy to me.
2.) None of this was ever in writing. I opened the account in a state of scam-induced confusion over the phone, but never signed anything. How much power do they have legally over me if nothing is in writing?
3.) I've basically resigned myself to the fact that the money invested is a write-off. It's a significant, but not huge sum of money, but I just want to close my account and move on with my life. The problem is this, in the terms and conditions:
"Dormant Fee: X will charge dormant account balance, for inactivity in trading of 45 days and above, for the sum of 100$ a monthly fee after this period of time ."
So if that fee runs down my account, fine, but will my trading account then go into debit? And should I not wish to pay that fee, would that make me legally vulnerable, despite never having signed anything? And since the company is unlicensed and I live in the UK, and there are three jurisdictions mentioned in the terms, one being a UK overseas territory, how would any legal dispute work?
I've sent them an requesting an immediate withdrawal and cancellation of the account. But basically, what happens from here? How liable am I to any legal pursuits?
Many thanks.

Why is swap so high sometimes

Hi
I just started trading forex with a 25€ no-deposit bonus from a certain broker and I'm actually making some profit. But there's something I still can't understand: why is swap so high sometimes? I've gone long on EURUSDmicro about 1 hour ago with 1 micro unit and I have 0.28€ in swap which is half of what I was expecting profiting (about 0.55/0.60€). Usually I get 0.04/0.06€ swap with EURUSDmicro. Will it eventually go down in this position/ordetrade?
Thanks
